LEFTOVERS

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to my sister on Monday the 12th. So in honor of her birthday, I made her a quilt from the scraps of her two Chaos quilts. The Chaos pattern was called Chattanooga Sushi so I titled the scrap quilt Sushi Leftovers. I cut all the scrap fabric into 4 1/2 inch strips and sewed them end-to-end.Then I cut 6 foot strips and sewed them together. The binding is a mixture of all the pieces. I will do that again, it gives the quilt such nice color. The quilt was a lot of fun to make. No fussy corners, no squares to square and no borders to worry over. I do however have a renewed appreciation for Jody and her machine quilting work. This was my first and last attempt at machine quilting.
The pillowcases are trimmed in the fabric to match the quilt with the remainder of the case in flannel to match the quilt back. My sister has the new pillowcases on the bed and the quilt turned down a bit to reveal the flannel quilt backing. My sister is not usually fussy about these things, I am thinking she is really happy with the whole collection.
