takingSHAPE

The new siding is looking good.
The gang has been at it a week now and are making good progress. Some of our material is on back order and will hopefully get here on Monday.
Now we just have to paint the doors and shutters.
My flowers are being stomped down and the pine mulch is gone so we will need some time for landscaping when the gang leaves. They took the gutters off the house and we didn't realize that Katie could get through the fence without them. Lucky for us she didn't see the opening before we did. More to come.....

Yeah! Monacan 21, James River 0. Put another win in the win column for the Chiefs. Monacan
came out with their game face on today. Marvelous Marvin lead the team to victory. Way to go Marvin!
Matt on the sidelines with the bum ankle. Get well Matt. One more game to go folks. What a season. Happy Birthday to Jordan L., the cupcakes sure looked good.
Wendy is sporting her new Monacan shirt. Fan support is at an all time high. Go team! Next Thursday, Manchester, home.

courtJESTER

Court Jester quilt so far. Katie has to get in on the action, as usual. I think one more row each way should do it.

bookCOVERS

Today was sewing day at my house. Lucy has 2 book covers ready to quilt.
Mine are finished and ready to go to the Fall Festival at the Waldorf School in Chapel Hill. Hope they sell!
Lucy finished the second quilt top. The mitered corners have given us a lot of trouble. We tried a new way of pining and cutting and that seemed to be easier. They look fabulous.
Wow, this is hard work. Especially when you have 5 guys beating and banging just outside the window but the new siding looks good.
How many pins do you use for one seam?

tiedUP

Okay, so I loaded the pictures backwards. So we will start at the end and go back. Yeah! Final score Monacan 7, Midlothian 7.
Yes, football fans the district contest ended in a tie.
Monacan beat Midlo 2 times already this season and came out prepared to do it again. Midlo had other things in mind. Midlo started the game out with a touchdown and extra point. Monacan had met their match but came back to tie the game 7-7.
The dedacated fans were out in the chilly weather to support thier boys. Go Moncan Chiefs! Next week James River, away.

FINISHED

Stack and Whack is done and ready to go to the quilter! Yeah!
My quilt top is laying over the quilt bottom so you can get an idea of the color. The cat print is the last of the quilt top. Gold and purple are the back side of the quilt. My corners are not perfect but I'm getting there.
All in all I think it turned out nice. In the process of making the quilt I learned a lot of new things. Measure a hundred times, cut once. Pin, pin and pin again, sooner or later your points will come together. Press, not iron. Don't forget to unplug the iron before you go to bed. Diana is a great teacher with lots of great ideas. Thanks Diana for all your help.
So off to the quilter we go. Now just help me decide what pattern to use for my stitching. Way to many decisions. Will post the finished quilt in a few weeks.

Monacan vs Bird. The fans are ready for the big game. Bird is undefeated so far this season, but
Monacan Chiefs are ready for the challenge. Monacan scores first from their own 9 yard line.

Bird comes back with a touchdown and failed extra point. Final score Monacan 7, Bird 6. Several freshman players were moved up to JV but that didn't stop this freshman team from stomping the Skyhawks. Way to go Chiefs!

stackandwhacktheEND

With the quilt tops assembled it is now time to make the borders. Three different borders are selected for each quilt.
Christmas Cats and
swimming fish are almost done.
Diana gives us last minute measuring tricks.
Zelda decided not to make a quilt but measuring, cutting and pressing lessons are always a help. Thanks Diana.
