thedeereFAN

For several years now I have asked Mark to hang a ceiling fan in the now sewing room. Due to his other priorities it just didn't happen.
Then yesterday we had to go out shopping for a new lawn tractor. While his eyes were glazed over from looking at the Deere I took advantage of the situation and placed a ceiling fan in our cart.
After a long lecture about how he would have to go up in the attic and put in a support board, blah, blah, blah, he decided to hang the fan. Well low and behold the support board was already in place because that is the way he had the electrician mount the lights in the room 15 years ago.
The Five Minute Fan (Hunter's words not mine) was up and running in an hour. Now my sewing room will be forever cool! Woo-Hoo!

longARM

Cross and Crown Quilt
Cross and Crown quilt is currently at Virginia Longarm Shop in Maidens, VA. As you can see the longarm machines are big and take up a lot of space. Elegant Feathers edge to edge quilting pattern is sewn into the layers of the quilt to hold all the pieces together.
Jody was super kind to make these picture for me during the process, which takes hours, by the way. Shela was thrilled to see the machine in action. Behind the machine is the thread wall, thousands of spools of every color you can imagine for quilting.

zeldastree

Next!

While the Cross and Crown quilt is at the longarm shop, it is time to start on the next project.
Dear Santa kits half price at the quilt shop were just too cute to pass up. The only problem with the kit was, that the fabric shown on the label wasn't in the kit. So I have to punt! I chopped up the panel and will turn it into a Perfect 10. I needed one more framed piece to complete the center but the tree pattern I have has a fat tree and the trees in the kit are tall skinny trees.
Zelda to the rescue! Zelda designed another pattern to fit the quilt.
So there you have it, a skinny tree! Go job Zelda.

outwiththeOLD

In with the old !

In with the old is more like it. The futon is returning to VA soon. How many times have we moved the futon?
So, we had to make room. Yes, I could have put it in the sewing room and not disturbed anything thing else, but what fun is that.
It is good to change things around a bit
No, you are seeing things, I do not have three sewing machines in the sewing room. Two others are hiding in the corner, so there!

Well folks,
the quilt is coming together. The first border is attached and the second 14 inch border with the corner pieces is at the embroiderer as we speak.
Cindy, of Fancy Stitches will put Louis' name and favorite scripture on the borders. As soon as that is done we are off to the longarm shop in Maidens, VA.
I made a picture of the quilt back just to give you an idea how much work went into each block.
There will be a corner piece in each of the four corners of the quilt, followed by a small 4 inch border and binding.
The back of the quilt will remain a mystery until Shela receives the quilt. I will post pictures then. I will tell you the back of the quilt is 115" x 130", with the longarm allowance. This is my biggest quilt so far.
