turtleWAR

Good morning to all!

My garden is just starting to bloom.

Came across the turtles in the back yard . Turtle boy A and Turtle boy B were at war with each other. Turtle boy A finally had enough and closed up shop catching Turtle boy B's toes in his shell. Turtle boy B pulled Turtle boy A around the yard for a while before Turtle boy A released his toes. Told you it was never a dull minute around the farm!

Total turtle count for Monday is 7. Found 4 on the way to the mailbox this morning and three including the TBA and TBB in the back yard.
So far this summer our wildlife count is 8 turtles, 4 snakes and one deceased skippy!

weatethegreen!

It is Friday sew day at the farm.
We are celebrating Lucy's birthday a day early.
Zelda brought Cream Horns, 4 boxes of cookies, 6 flavors of ice cream. Gordon sent the chocolate Ukrop's cake. We ordered two pizzas and Cindy saved the day by bringing a SALAD! The salad cancels out any bad calories you eat for the rest of the day. A fun day of sugar over load for sure.
Did we sew? No, but we did cut a few quilt pieces on the Accuquilt Go! cutter.
Field trip next week to Millstone Quilt Shop in Mechanicsville, VA.

neveradullMINUTE!

Never a dull minute with a Jack Russell Terrier!

They hunt if they are breathing.
We are surrounded by acres and acres of land, but where does Katie Kate find the snake? Inside the fence in the backyard. Oh no, not the lower 60 or the upper 20, in the yard.
This is the second snake kill of the season but this one appears to be the kind that can cause real trouble with a bite.
I did check her over and don't see any bite marks. The nice people at the vet told me to watch her for a couple of hours just in case she swells. Are they surprised at anything I call them about? NOOOOO......

sewDAY

Friday is sew day at the farm.
Instead of talking the day away, not that there is anything wrong with that, we sewed.

Tote bags for a friend are ready. Cute prints but a headache to cut and sew. Never worked with cotton fabric that stretched so much as the owl print.
Wow! 115 ties taken apart, ready for pressing and backing. The "Ties That Bind", Cross and Crown quilt is next. Just waiting on the Kona solid fabric to arrive. I will cut and sew the tedious blocks in between the 4 Reindeer quilts on the agenda.

Last week at the farm, Zelda arrived with stack-able cupcake holders. Ukrops had them on the clearance rack before going out of business. Zelda could not pass up such a bargain. Where were the cupcake holders two years ago when we were racking our brains to build a cupcake holder "cake" made of Ukrop's doughnuts for Richard's birthday. Rest assured Richard if you come back on your birthday in the future, we have you covered. Chocolate glazed doughnuts and all!

moreREINDEER

Reindeer quilt number two.

The Reindeer quilt was such a hit last Christmas, everybody wanted one. Of course the longarm deadline had passed by the time everybody saw the quilt, so it is now Christmas quilt sewing in May. That way will have plenty time for my longarm princess Jody to sew snowflakes into the scene.
This quilt belongs to the kids who will need a warm quilt in Buffalo.
Only three more to go....

doesn'teddyeattheseTHINGS?

Never a dull minute around the farm.
Wednesday Katie Kate found and killed the snake in the back yard.
I didn't realize Thursday was squirrel hunting day.
Of course I had no idea she would actually catch the squirrel, but she caught and killed the thing as well! From time to time I will find a large tuft of white squirrel tail hair in the house, but up until today Katie Kate never caught the squirrel. We are not talking a baby squirrel, we are talking a full grown, dinner size squirrel!
At first glance I thought the girls had the new AKC stuffed squirrel I bought for them last week. Then I realized the squirrel Katie Kate was prancing around with was way too big for a toy.
No squeaker in this one Katie Kate!
