fairFOOD

Fair/Fall

The gang gathered at Mike and Janet's place for lunch. Fair and fall food was the theme for this get together.
Rhonda and Mike have a new kitty named Caddy. We were checking out the pictures on the camera. Caddy needs a home if you are interested.
Yes, that is a boot you see on Matt's foot. Can he play ball you ask? No, not for a couple more weeks. Torn ligaments and bone spurs have side lined our boy for a while. Clover Hill High School away this week.
As you can see we have plenty of food.

The girls picked out a new tote from my stash. Figgy Pudding pattern seems to be most popular.
A fine looking bunch of friends. Next get together November 15th, Armentrout's place. Theme is Italian.

loveanewGADGET

Nothing like a new gadget for the sewing room.
Wooden block quilt holders. There is a marble inside the block to hold up your quilt.
Easy to install and easy to use. Push your quilt up into the block for the marble to catch and hold, slide your quilt to the side for quick release.
Now I can change my scenery at any time.
My quilt holder has been replaced!

FALL

Fall is here in Virginia. The maple by the drive turns a nice red and the fall blooming crocus are always a nice surprise.

poorKATIE

Poor Katie Kate was just trying to nap. Eli thought she wanted to sleep in a cocoon.

autumnFESTIVAL

The town of Surf City

host an Autumn Festival every October. Games, fossil digging, crafts, food and music.

The old Armory Museum is open for tours. In 1946 Topsail Island became a missile testing site named Operation Bumblebee. For two years missiles were tested along the coast.
The turtle hospital is open for tours. They currently house 22 sick or injured turtles. No picture taking is allowed because the camera flash harm their eyes.
Eli and Nana managed to find several shark teeth in the fossil pile.

PETS

The pets are having a good time at the beach house.

Brusco has a bird's eye view of the sound and all the boats heading up the waterway.
Bailey cat wanted to play cards.
Mother and Eli learned to play games on Sporcle.

badDOG

For once it was not my dog getting into trouble. Brusco decided the chicken in the trash was calling his name. Of course Brandi claims Brusco is the perfect dog and did not make this mess even though Katie Kate was next door playing with Sky. Maybe it was really the cat!
The pups love Karl.
Eli was taking a break from the paddling.

Operation Bumblebee was a missile testing program. Towers were built along the coastline from the north end of the island to the southern tip of the island. Missiles were fired at the north end of the island and soldiers posted in the towers would mark the time the missile came past their tower. Testing went on for some time on the island. The armory and several towers can still be seen on the island. Most of the towers have been converted to private homes.
Last year's fun at the One Fish, Two Fish house.

scampiNIGHT

Scampi night!
Yaaaaaa!, it's scampi night again on the island. Richard made us his famous shrimp scampi using fresh shrimp from the Shrimp Lady.

Folks, let me tell you it was worth the two year wait.

restDAY

Rainy day

It is a nice rainy day on the island. Rest time for the dogs.

Walkies yesterday in the sunshine at the north end of the island.
Serenity Point, located on the southern tip of the island. We are in the middle house. Nice condo's but more rules and regulations than Branderland.

kayakingFUN

Tuesday fun.
Off to Herring's Outdoor Sports for kayaking. We booked a guided tour this year. Jennifer, our guide took us up the waterway toward the swing bridge and around the bend through the marsh.
Birds, crabs, oysters and snails were on the tour. We even saw deer tracks in the middle of the marsh.
We paddled around for two hours. Long enough to wear out the group.
A fun time had by all!
