springtimeQUILT

The Daisy Chain Turning Twenty with a Twist is done and ready for quilting. Brandi did not want a solid 10 1/2 inch square in the pattern so we split in to four pieces. Some you see right away and some blend so well you have to hunt for them. Blue flannel on back will complete the ensemble.

problempillowSHAMS

The pillow shams are complete. Finally!
Lucy was having a bit of trouble with her shams so she brought them up on Monday. We added a few borders to the top and bottom, trimmed them out and now they are beautiful. Brandi's sham on top, Alison's sham second. We are good!

sewmuchFUN

Time flies, seems like it was just last week we were sewing at the farm.
As usual lunch is the highlight of our day. Bar-b-que, slaw, chips, grape salad and chocolate cake to motivate us. As you can see Steve got into the cake before Cindy left home!
Cindy made pillow cases with moose print fabric.

Lucy cut squares for her pillow shams. Vicki sewed a Christmas book. Ginny supervised the entire operation. Katie had to check out Lucy's new quilt.
We put the two Daisy chain quilts side by side to compare colors. All fabric is from the Amy Butler collection, Lucy used the gray and navy prints with the lighter stripe ,binding the quilt in the large navy print. My quilt features the darker stripe and more of the greens and light blues.
We actually get a lot done today.
A fine time had by all!

powerquiltingWEEKEND

The Quilting Queens kicked off a fun filled quilting weekend , beginning with lunch at El Patron on Friday. As you can see Ginny has a head start on the Christmas season making doll and table topper quilts for the annual Waldorf Fund Raiser in December. Tiny, tiny squares make up each project, sewn to perfection. Sat. we were up an at' um early to make Oragami Bags at Jojo's quilt shop. Jody, the ever so patient teacher, led us through the entire process. As you can see our bags are beautiful But that's not the end of our quilting day. No sir, we were off to the library to join The Happy Quilters of Chesterfield for lunch and quilt for the afternoon. Lucy cut her binding for the Daisy Chain quilt and I finished trimming the squares for mine. A fun filled day with friends! Wow!

springQUILT

Spring quilt preview. Jody did a wonderful job with the Spider Mum pattern. It was the perfect choice. 500 inches of binding awaits me! How about those colors, my sister.

Be careful what you wish for! 7, 8 inches of the powdery white stuff. The dogs are having a blast running around like wild things.
Looks like a sew day to me!
10:45 a.m. update. The Gold Finch are nesting at the farm again this year so I went out to fill the feeders. 10 lbs of Thistle they are eating a week now. Anyway, I measured the snow in the side yard at 10 inches! If only the kids were home to sleigh ride. Richard, can you drive a Deere? What fun that would be. Miss you!
