lunchwithALISON

Yeah! Lucy's girl is home from the cold of the tundra, not really the tundra but close. Minot, N.D. is home these days. Snow, snow and more snow. Welcome back to the balmy Christmas weather of VA. Lunch with the Lunch Bunch is a must. Zelda made Alison an instant Christmas in a box. Simply open the box, push the button and the flashing lights appear on the tree and fireplace. So if you don't want to spend hours decorating due to the fact that you are the only one in N.D., Zelda's box will get you through the holidays without the fuss and hassle of dragging out the boxes when the spouse is in parts unknown.
Poor Alison had to look at endless amounts of fabric while she was here. Just in case Lucy wants to make her twenty quilts, well maybe just a couple but fabric is just too much fun for us quilting girls. We just like to look at it and touch it, and imagine the endless designs of quilts we could make with each fabric pattern. Alison, come back soon!

chaosONE

My sister's Chaos quilt is done. The stripe on the border brought the whole design together. Click on the picture to enlarge and check out the spiral quilt pattern. The binding was done in dark purple to match the first small border. My sister was very surprised to see it done and displayed on the guest bed when she arrived this past Monday.

lucy'sCHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. Gather at Lucy's house to join family and friends for Christmas feast. The kids are here from the tundra, Mom and Dad from the mountains of N.C., and the rest of the local folk joined in for a fabulous Christmas dinner. As you can see, Lucy had the place decorated from top to bottom, inside and outside. Lucy, it was breathtaking!
A ring at the doorbell brought great news. Alison's suitcase arrived from parts unknown. Relax and enjoy the family!

Now that Chaos is complete and on it's way to Carolina, it's time to get Chaos Two underway.
Same pattern, brighter fabric. A 1 inch lime border is first, a 2 inch yellow/gold batik is next and a blue chain link-like pattern, 7 inch border will finish it up. The long arm pattern is still up in the air. Click on the picture to enlarge for more detail.

Feed the birds. Popcorn and raisins for the birds are a must during the cold weather months. The garlands are draped on the bushes around the yard.
The felted stockings are sewn and decorated. We had to grab then when Snooks was not around. Made from sweaters and jackets purchased from the thrift store. Washed in hot water and enough soap to run the machine all year and then dryed in the dryer on high heat, turns your wool into a nice felt. Try it sometime.

Potstickers in paradise. Ground pork, nappa cabbage, scallions and wanton wrappers. Mix and stuff and you have potstickers. Steam in oil and water and dinner is served. It was a group effort.

lunchbunchchristmasLUNCH

Christmas lunch with the Lunch Bunch. With Christmas just around the corner. Lunch with the girls is a must for several reasons, helps keep your sanity even though Christmas is just around the corner and you have guest with hamsters coming, friends are just plain fun and laughing is good for your health, not to mention the tacky gift exchange! Vicki couldn't even wait to get home to eat her goodies. Wham! Her roasted nuts were gone. Down the hatch, no, not sharing with the family. The food was a bit blah and the service was the pits but it was the company that mattered. Quilting, sewing, fabric and fabric shopping are always the hot topic. The Sat. quilting fabric sale plan is ready and we will be there with bells on. Watch out Mildred, here we come! Merry Christmas to all!

lastdayofFUN

The
The Picayune Christmas Parade, Grand Marshall, Connie Sable. It was a cold, windy night but the whole family joined in the parade fun. Destiny, Matt and the kids came down from Hernando to watch Nonnie in the parade. Grandmother and Vergie came out to catch beads and candy with the gang. No missing out on the fun with this family.

Catfish was the food hit of the parade.

Connie made us proud as Grand Marshall.

Bella dog was found wandering around Purvis, Miss., Rick and Connie just couldn't say no to adoption. She is darling!
Earlier in the day we went to visit Mardi Gras World. All the floats for Mardi Gras parades are made and or refurbished here. The floats are used over and over, new paint and or props are added.

Want to have a big party in NOLA? All the "dens" (warehouses) are available to rent for parties. Floats and props can be used to create a party theme.

Tomorrow we head home. My Katie Kate probably misses us. We have had a fun time with the kids this week. Food, shopping, site seeing, visiting the family, Picayune parade and more. The fun never ends in NOLA.
